Goblet shaped blooms each have dark, brownish black veining that looks almost hand painted. Blooms nestle above thin, grass like, variegated leaves which are retained from february through to may. Crocus oliviero subsp. Balansae 'orange monarch' reaches a height of approximately 15cm and is wonderful planted in either open ground or in containers.
